Kooheji Contractors was appointed to build the Oncology
Centre in King Hamad University Hospital. The 120 beds facility,
covering 57,000 sqm including underground parking was
designed to the highest international standards of healthcare
provisions, aimed to bring first-class cancer and research
facilities to Bahrain.
In addition to building the Central Utility Plant Unit has been built, consisting of medical gas, water storage facilities with an RO plant, chiller compound, generators, CHW pumps, boiler buildings, and an oxygen V/E store. While externally the project scope consisted of building a network of roads with all utilities, various systems, and soft landscaping works.
The Oncology Centre with the incorporation of the latest technology advancements, followed by research functions with comprehensive in-patient, out-patient, diagnostic, and treatment facilities it is expected to play a crucial role in the worldwide development of oncology radiation. Also, strategically located in the middle of the Arabian Gulf, neighboured by Saudi Arabia the centre will be critical in achieving nationally and internationally coordinated clinical trial.
