Supreme Council of Health President Lays Foundation Stone for “Kooheji Medical Centre” Near Salmaniya Medical Complex
· The New Four-storey Centre Encompasses 17 Clinics, 2 Operation Theatres, and Numerous Modern Healthcare Rooms.
· Kooheji Contractors Appointed as the Main Contractor for the Construction and Supervision of the Project
May 20, 2024 – Manama, the Kingdom of Bahrain: Under the patronage and presence of His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health, the groundbreaking for the “Kooheji Medical Centre” project was held today in Salmaniya area, adjacent to the Salmaniya Medical Complex. The ceremony was held in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, His Excellency Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Government Hospitals, Dr. Maryam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive of Government Hospitals, Mr. Abdulghafar Al Kooheji, Chairman of Kooheji Development and Abdulrahim Al Kooheji Charity Foundation, and a number of senior officials and representatives of stakeholders.
The project is funded by Abdulrahim Al Kooheji Charity Foundation, and will be executed in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Health, while Kooheji Development, one of the leading real estate development companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, was appointed as the main developer of the project, and Kooheji Contractors, the leading construction company headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as the main project contractor.
The new state-of-the-art centre is the latest charitable initiative by Abdulrahim Al Kooheji Charity Foundation, a major contributor to the project, which is being constructed in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. The Foundation has taken the initiative to support the Ministry’s efforts by establishing an integrated private medical centre that supports the medical services of Salmaniya Medical Complex, recognising the urgent need for a developed private medical complex in Salmaniya area. The step stems from its role as a leading charity organisation in the Kingdom in the field of participating in government initiatives to meet the needs of the local community and its keenness to improve the standard of living of community members.
The Abdulrahim Al Kooheji Charity Foundation is cooperating with Kooheji Development and Kooheji Contractors to implement the project. Kooheji Development has been entrusted with the development and oversight of the project, leveraging its extensive experience in the field. With a portfolio of iconic projects in Bahrain and abroad, the company has demonstrated its capability to deliver large-scale developments. Meanwhile, Kooheji Contractors, which boasts over 50 years of expertise in construction and contracting in the Kingdom, has been appointed as the main contractor for the project. The company will be responsible for constructing and supervising the project, ensuring its timely completion.
The four-storey centre encompasses 17 clinics, two operation theatres, three Intensive Care Units (ICUs), specialised departments for radiology (MRI/ CT Scan/ X-ray), pancreas and intestines, a blood drawing laboratory, 10 private rooms for patients, five spacious luxury rooms, two delivery rooms and a neonatal department, six VIP suites, in addition to a large waiting area with prayer rooms and a cafeteria, and 150 parking spaces.
The Kooheji Medical Centre is distinguished by its modern architectural design with large double windows overlooking green natural landscapes, ensuring natural lighting for the building to provide a unique therapeutic experience for all visitors, in addition to designing spacious and practical interior spaces to provide an element of luxury in healthcare and create a healthy environment for all medical staff in the centre and visitors alike.
Moreover, the new facility will apply the best safety and medical standards necessary to ensure a comprehensive treatment experience with practical entrances and exits, safe fire escape routes, laboratories equipped with the latest medical technologies, advanced rooms for medical imaging, and comfortable rooms for all patients and visitors.
On the occasion, Mr. Abdulghafar Al Kooheji, Chairman of Kooheji Holding, stated: “We extend our sincere thanks to His Excellency Lt. Gen.
